TALLer TALES……………...

Marriage: My maternal grandmother was the last of my grandparents to enter eternal life; she died in 2003. She was a great lady and we were graced to have her around so long. She made us laugh, she showed us how to love and she showered us constantly with great advice. I have more memories of my maternal grandparents simply because my dad's parents died when I was much younger.

Grandma and Grandpa Shuder were married for over 55 years. They had a great marriage despite the fact they lived through some challenging times; my Grandfather, who was in the Army, served in both the Korean War and World War II. There was no doubt in anyone's mind of the love they had for one another. Their actions and their simple gestures communicated their love for one another. They could sit for hours in each other's company and never grow weary or uneasy for spending that much time with each other. They had a great marriage and they loved each other with their whole hearts.

Keep Christ in Christmas

In an attempt to combat the secular attack on Christmas, the celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ, the Knights of Columbus are selling car magnets. They are beautiful magnets of the Nativity scene with the motto “KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS”. They are $5.00 and funds raised after expenses will be utilized for charitable purposes. Please help spread the word that December 25th is not just a holiday (x-mas), it is what it has been for over two thousand years, the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ! Please see any usher after any Mass from now until Christmas to purchase these beautiful magnets.

The Heart of the Matter

Listening to the Lord During the Economic Crisis

As many of us watch the free fall of the financial markets and as the politicians and news media grasp for reasons why and people to blame, now is the time for those who profess their faith in Jesus Christ to listen more intently to His call to embrace stewardship as a way of life.

While God did not cause the current crisis, God is certainly not absent during this critical and uncertain time. God is always active in our lives. God uses our life experiences to urge us to re-examine how we live our lives through good times and bad. Do we worry more about how much money and possessions we have than how much God is central in our lives? Do we spend more time balancing our checkbooks, scrutinizing our investments, or paying for material things than we spend with God in prayer? Whose counsel are we seeking during this economic crisis? Is it the government, our financial planner, our stock broker, or the God who provides us with everything we have and need?

Did you get your Kroger Card?

Don't forget they make great Christmas gifts.

Cards will once again be available at the Parish or School Office.

Yes cards can be re-filled and used over and over and you can refill it by using your credit card.

The card can be replenished in any amount at the customer service counter or in the check out line (before the cashier starts to process your groceries.)

St. Joan of Arc gets a 5% rebate check on purchases with the Kroger Card.

The card already has a $5.00 balance (that explains the initial cost of $5.00) You then take the card to Kroger and have more money put on the card.

Purchase your groceries, purchase more cards from us and give as gifts, purchase other gift cards that Kroger stores offer (Best Buy etc.) The card can also be used at the Kroger Fuel Center (Gratiot between 10 and 11 mile).
